Copy editing/proofreading includes a line-by-line review of the manuscript for the following:

• Typographical errors
• Misspelled words
• Grammatical errors
• Punctuation
• Incorrect usage (e.g., effect/affect)
• Consistency/Standardization

When standardizing your manuscript, we will verify and/or correct the following:

• Spelling and capitalization of specific and repeated terms, character names, and location references
• The sequence of chapter headings and subheadings, lists, and tables
• References to illustrations, tables, and figures within the text
• Consistent style for em-dashes, ellipsis points, and serial commas

Copy editing may also include author queries. As the most basic level of editing, copy editing will rarely include a review for content organization, sentence structure, clarity, word choice, or voice/style. We recommend copy editing services for an author whose work has already been professionally reviewed or for work that may contain only basic errors. If you feel that your manuscript may need a more substantive edit, please choose from either our line editing or developmental editing services.

Rates

The standard rate for our copy editing services is $150

All authors will be supplied with a free sample edit and flat rate quote for their project. Click here to see our guidelines for details.

Payment for our editing services is typically arranged as follows:

50% deposit due upon initiation of project - $75
25% deposit due halfway through project - $37.50
25% balance due upon completion of project - $37.50

We'll also gladly work with you to make other payment arrangements, based on what works best for your personal budget.
